'International Human Rights Law in Evolution: The Implications of Villagran Morales et al v. Guatemala (The ‘Street Children’ Case, Inter-American Court of Human Rights) for International Human Rights Law', Marie Wernham, 2000 [Word 242kb]
The findings in this case are highly significant: the judges’ decision to bring all of the CRC into the scope of interpretation of Article 19 of the American Convention on Human Rights means that this is the first region in the world where violations of the CRC can be challenged in a regional court of law.
